Rainfall Warning in effect for:
  • Coquihalla Highway - Hope to Merritt
Rainfall with amounts up to 50 mm is expected.

Where:
- Manning - Skagit Valley
- Highway 3 near Hope.
- Coquihalla Highway - Hope to Merritt

When: Now through late this afternoon.

Remark:
A second frontal system is moving across the south coast and is giving rain that will continue through this afternoon. Rainfall amounts up to 50 mm are expected before the rain eases to showers by late this afternoon.

Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas such as steep slopes, deforested areas or recent burn scars.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

Allow extra time for travel.

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected.

What:
Wind gusts up to and possibly exceeding 90 km/h.


When:
This afternoon.

Where:
- Nicola (Including Merritt)
- Similkameen
- Okanagan Connector
- Coquihalla Highway (North of Coquihalla summit to Helmer Lake)
- Highway 3 (Stretching from Eastgate to Princeton)


Additional information:
A strong low pressure system is set to pass through Southern BC this afternoon. As the system passes, Southwest winds are expected to pick up with gusts ranging from 80-90 km/h, with a possibility of slightly stronger gusts. The system will be fast moving and as such winds should taper off by the evening period.

Local utility outages are possible. High-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind.

Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

Prepare for possible disruptions to transportation, services, and utilities.
